Infernozilla’s Gaming Resolutions for 2025

03 January 2025

As the new year approaches, it’s time to do what every gamer loves most: make ambitious goals we’ll probably only half achieve. The Infernozilla team is no exception, and this year, our gaming resolutions are a mix of lofty aspirations, backlog-clearing promises, and that eternal struggle against feature creep—both in games and our lives.

Here’s what the team has planned for 2025. We’ve grouped these by theme because, let’s be honest, you don’t need our entire team directory attached to the words “clear backlog.”

The POE2 Effect: Path of Exile Fever

With the long-awaited Path of Exile 2 early access rolling out, a solid chunk of the team has one clear goal: to conquer Wraeclast again—but this time with WASD controls. Whether they’re eyeing Shadow, Duelist, or just winging it with an adventurous no-guide approach, excitement is running high.

Expect late nights, countless builds, and the inevitable regret of, “Why didn’t I just roll a Witch?”

Biggest goals:

  • Exploring POE2 without spoilers.
  • Learning WASD-based gameplay mechanics. No. Build. Guides. Allowed.
  • Keeping the grind manageable (we believe in them, kind of).

Content Creation Renaissance

A new year brings renewed creative energy, and many of us are ready to jump back into our content creation dreams. Whether it’s sharing insights about sci-fi games, creating fanart, or publishing videos, the team is buzzing with ideas.

Creative goals include:

  • Returning to regular content creation, even if it’s part-time.
  • Starting a YouTube channel and recording at LEAST three gaming videos. (Save some of that motivation for the rest of us, Joe!)
  • Creating content more regularly and balancing it with playing fewer hours of FC.

Backlog Battles: The Eternal Struggle

Raise your hand if you’ve ever said, “I’ll finish my backlog this year,” and then buy a few more games instead. It’s a universal gaming truth, but the team is determined to make some headway in 2025. Or so they say.

Backlog warriors plan to:

  • Complete at least two games before buying anything new.
  • Commit and get ‘Master’ in SF6. (No matter how bad the patches are to our mains!)
  • Tackle massive RPGs like Elden Ring that have been gathering dust for far too long. 2025 is definitely the year.
  • Finish Skyrim’s main story. For real this time. (Side quest who?)
  • Hunt platinum trophies in Gran Turismo 7, Celeste, and Cult of the Lamb.
  • Finally beat Blasphemous 1 & 2 before even thinking about another purchase. (The blasphemy, I know!)

Special mention goes to Timbre, whose simple yet bold resolution is to finish any game this year. One. Single. Game.

Mastering Game Dev and Creative Skills

We saw Balatro, developed by a solo developer LocalThunk, become a Game of The Year Contender at the Game Awards in 2024. Check out the other nominees here!

Now, 2025 is shaping up to be the year of learning and creativity for some of us. Whether it’s mastering tools, completing passion projects, or diving back into game development after a hiatus, the team is ready to push boundaries.

Development goals include:

  • Returning to game development after a long break.
  • Testing new ideas in Blender, Unreal Engine, or Unity to rekindle that creative spark.
  • Composing free music for indie game developers, with plans to bring in a shiny new synth for inspiration. (Ricardo hit us with a taste already!)
  • Completing old asset packs and starting new ones (because they won’t make themselves).
  • Experimenting with tools like Twine and Ren’Py for narrative-driven projects.
  • Learning pixel art and exploring Procreate Dreams for animation.

Miscellaneous Goals and Aspirations

Not all goals fit neatly into categories, and that’s okay. There’s no shortage of unique aspirations among the team.

Wildcards:

  • Grinding to Diamond rank in League of Legends.
  • Upgrading Commander decks for MTG (because cardboard is forever).
  • Hunting the Necromancer title in FFXIV’s Deep Dungeon Solo Challenge and completing the Futures Rewritten (Ultimate) raid.
  • Attending Bear Stone Festival 2025 for good vibes and great music.

What About You?

That’s what the Infernozilla team has in store for 2025—ambitious goals, inevitable sidetracks, and all. Now it’s your turn: What are your gaming resolutions for the new year?

Is this the year you finally clear your backlog, master a new skill, or platinum your favorite game? Drop your plans in the comments, and let’s keep each other accountable (or at least entertained).
